Professional counselling accreditation
The Spark continually seeks the highest professional and clinical standards and we are recognised by Counselling and Psychotherapy in Scotland (COSCA).
This commitment to excellence requires all of our counsellors to be accredited by one or more of the following external organisations:
- The British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP)
- Counselling and Psychotherapy in Scotland (COSCA)
- Association for Family Therapy (AFT)
- Online Therapy Institute (OTI)
Counselling courses and advanced counselling training
This is complemented by an extensive range of professional training and education programmes provided by The Spark.
Programmes are available for individuals as well as private, public and third sector organisations. Courses range from introductory Relationship First Aid programmes through to Masters qualifications in relationship counselling.
The Spark’s mission
Our mission is a simple one: to make relationships work.
Irrespective of age, gender, race, sexuality, religion, ethnicity, relationship status, disability or income we believe that every person should benefit from positive, healthy relationships.
Whether relationships are with partners, family, friends, colleagues or neighbours making relationships work is at the very core of The Spark’s mission.
Good relationships are at the heart of what we do, just as it was when we first opened our doors 50 years ago.
Protecting the rights of children
In delivering services for children and young people The Spark is fully-committed to the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC).
The convention sets out the basic rights of every person under the age of 18 and the steps that must be taken by governments, organisations and individuals to uphold those rights. Find out more about the UNCRC with this helpful summary.
