This intensive 2-day training course from The Spark is aimed at those who are interested in gaining an understanding of the fundamentals of working on a helpline. Through offering practical skills and knowledge, this training helps participants respond to a wide variety of calls confidently and effectively. Importantly, learning from this course can be applied across different helpline settings.

Learning outcomes


Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Structure a phone call and understand the skills required during each stage
  • Identify and practice techniques for dealing with common challenges
  • Identify the role of a helpline worker in relation to risk
  • Understand how to obtain and or/provide support after emotional contacts.

Course fees and how to book


This 2-day course is charged at £150 per person. Please note that participants are required to attend both days in order to receive a Certificate of Attendance.
